This is an interesting chart. A couple of points jump out at me.
1. Prospective buyers dropped off precipitous in 2006. I wish we would have been watching this statistic in 2006! It seems obvious when you look at this chart.
2. Case-Shiller has always been a tough metric for me to get my arms around.
Came across this video the other day and it is a great, simplified, graphic illustration of the housing crisis we just went through. After the dust settles from the recession and housing crisis, I believe the data will be compelling for all states to offer a non-judicial avenue for resolution of real estate loan defaults (they will not, but they should).
